About

Crystalline is built on 60 years of DSP innovation. We asked what legendary digital reverb pioneers would have created with modern resources and made that plugin, with all the features a modern engineer needs.

Unrealistic Expectations Allowed

There are two fundamental reverb philosophies: Algorithmic and Convolution. Convolution mimics a real space using impulse responses, while algorithmic reverb creates an artificial space from mathematical algorithms, free from natural constraints.

Classic Algorithmic Reverbs

Crystalline follows the tradition of classic algorithmic reverbs, but adds new features and higher fidelity thanks to modern computing power. It is designed to sound unreal in a positive sense, creating rooms and halls closer to those of your dreams than a real house.

Preset Creators

Crystalline comes with over 300 presets created by BABY Audio and friends, including Damian Taylor, Michele Canova, Eric J Dubowsky, Matt Sim, and M-Phazes.

Features

• BPM-Synced Start And End Times: Crystalline hard-syncs reverb attack and decay to your DAW’s tempo, resulting in cleaner mixes.
• Reflections Section: “Size” sets room size from tiny to large, independent of “Length” for any size/length combination.
• Depth Section: “Resolution” sets the algorithm’s complexity from ‘basic’ to ‘pristine’. More complex settings provide an ultra-clean, artifact-free response, while ‘Basic’ offers efficient CPU performance.
• Clean-Up Section: “Damping” is a dual filter that removes high and low frequencies from reflections, quickly getting rid of clutter.
• Shape Section: “Tone” is a tilt EQ for shifting frequency balance to brighter or darker. “Smoothing” applies a custom EQ curve to address resonant frequencies.
• Output Section: “Ducker” lowers the reverb signal when the dry track is playing, allowing for a cleaner mix.
• Top Panel: “Color” changes background colors. “Eco Mode” runs Crystalline in a low-CPU mode by setting resolution to “Basic” and disabling the shimmer effect.
