Description
The Ampknob BDH plugins provide access to three versions of a high-gain tube guitar amplifier. They are designed for quick, album-ready guitar tones with minimal tweaking. These plugins were sound-designed by metal producer Jens Bogren to offer an authentic, studio-worthy tone.
Three Amps, Three Characters
The Ampknob BDH Bundle includes three amps that complement each other, but you can also buy your favorite one separately.
Ampknob Bdh 5169
Based on the original “block letter” amp head from 1992, the 5169 is known for its aggressive and punchy high-gain tone. It is considered a benchmark for other high-gain guitar amp manufacturers.
Ampknob Bdh 66o6+
This amp is based on a hot-rodded “plus” version from around 2000. It was modified by Jens Bogren to have a unique, heavy sound that is the opposite of stale modern high-gain amps.
Ampknob Bdh Iii
The BDH III is a modern amp with a full and rich sound. Its dense distortion works well for modern riffs and creamy leads. The original unit is from Jens Bogren’s personal collection use on many albums at his studio.
Go Into Overdrive
Each amp in the BDH collection includes a pedal switch that effectively tightens the low-end and drives the input harder. This is a default mode for heavy riffing.
Record Your Ideas
The standalone version of Ampknob has a built-in recording function, allowing you to quickly and easily capture ideas without a DAW.
Stay In Time, Stay In Tune
The standalone version also includes a metronome to help with practicing, with adjustable meter, accent, and automatic speed increments. A built-in tuner ensures you are always ready to play.
The Perfect Tone
The speaker cabinet, microphones, and recording chain, chosen and set by Jens Bogren. You can disable the cab or load your own impulse response.
The Future Of Speaker Modeling
The IRDX (Impulse Response Dynamix) technology adds dynamic, true-to-life speaker behavior to static impulse responses. Developed by Jens Bogren using machine learning, it reconstructs the difference between a real cab and an impulse response. This results in a guitar amp sim that reacts like a real amp, fits in a mix, and feels great to play. While impulse responses are good at capturing tonality, they are static and can create a lifeless sound. Real speakers react dynamically, moving air and compressing base on how hard they are push.
