Description
The Imperial Delay is a versatile dual-layer delay with multi-effects, offering a range from smooth, warm vintage delay to extreme, otherworldly sounds. It provides maximum sonic possibilities with minimal effort, designed to be simple and straightforward while offering extensive creative options. The plugin uses minimal CPU power, allowing for multiple instances to be used for various applications such as vocal delay, stereo widening, modulation, and chorus effects. It can also be used as a distortion generator or to create unique, unheard effects.
Boz Digital Labs Imperial Delay Main View
The Delay knob controls the core function. Delay modes include Sync, which matches your DAW tempo; Free, which allows a manual delay from 0.1 to 10s; and Tap, for tapping in a tempo. There is also independent L-C-R channel activation with six mode options: standard stereo, left/right swap, two mono modes, and two ping pong modes.
Offset
The Offset control allows you to offset the right channel delay relative to the left. Once set, this offset maintains the same ratio even if the main delay setting changes. For example, if the main delay is 344ms with a 10ms offset (354ms on the right), changing the main delay to 244ms will result in a 254ms right channel delay, maintaining the 10ms offset.
Go Deep
Advanced settings are accessed by clicking the “e” button. These settings are available for Drive, Feedback, Modulation, Smear, Color, Chorus, and Duck. When the edit button is selected, the relevant controls appear along with a presets button. This section allows you to explore possibilities and save custom presets. Hidden features, such as a chorus effect with 2, 4, 8, or 16 voices, are also found here.
Pitch Shift
The Pitch function allows for independent detuning of the left and right channels, creating interesting doubling or widening effects without phase issues. When used with the Chorus effect, it can replicate the Stereoizer effect from the tc electronic System 6000.
