Description
Sines is an innovative polyphonic synthesizer that uses four sine-wave oscillators and various waveshaping methods to create complex and unique sounds. Combined with extensive modulation and effects, it can produce a wide range of timbres from subtle to intense.
The Power Of Four
The Sines interface provides hands-on access to all sound parameters with visual feedback from illuminated indicators, colors, and mini oscilloscopes. Its design emphasizes a “four of everything” structure: four LFOs, four oscillators, and four envelope generators. Each oscillator has waveshaping controls including feedback, phase, width, shape, wavefold, and drive, along with sub (octave-down) and super (octave-up) oscillators. The oscillators can be arranged as modulators/carriers for DX/FM-style synthesis. The synth also features a multimode filter, an arpeggiator, and a “best of” selection of Cherry Audio’s effects, plus a drift function and an eight-band graphic EQ. A comprehensive four-slot mod matrix offers extensive modulation options for almost every parameter.
Three Ways To Play
To make it easy to start, Sines includes over 500 presets and a detailed user guide. The visual and aural feedback encourages experimentation, helping users to quickly understand how the elements interact to design custom sounds. Sines supports three main sound design approaches:
Subtractive Synthesis: Sine waves are shaped into other standard waveforms and then processed through an analog-style filter.
Additive Synthesis: Sine waves are layered at different pitches and amplitudes, similar to a supercharged Hammond organ.
DX-Style FM: Oscillators modulate each other in a carrier/modulator setup, mimicking classic FM synthesis with less effort than original hardware.
