Description
EastWest Sounds Hollywood Fantasy Voices is a collection of cinematic fantasy vocals designed to bridge the gap between a trained singer and a perfect cinematic vocalist. It features the voice of singer Merethe Soltvedt, known for her work with Two Steps From Hell, along with full male and female choirs. The library was meticulously built with multiple microphone positions, portamento control, and mood settings (Soft, Classic, and Epic). The included Elvish words from Tolkien’s original language allow for authentic scores.
Sustains
This section provides sustained vocals from Merethe Soltvedt. Users can hold a single note to create a haunting, regal topline. It includes Lyrical and Vibrato options for dynamic vowels and higher-energy sustained vowels.
Legato
For dramatic melodies, this section features true legato passages. Ascending and descending transitions were recorded within an octave to allow for realistic and expressive performances, perfect for evoking images of fantasy settings.
Elvish Words
Merethe recorded 60 different words from Tolkien’s original language. These can be performed in isolation or chained together to create unique phrases and sentences, adding subtle detail and authenticity to a score.
Phrases
This feature includes ad-lib phrases to instantly set a mood for somber or ominous scores. The phrases are organized by key, allowing users to create a strong vocal line by playing a single note, providing maximum realism and emotion.
Choir
To complement the solo singer, the library includes ethereal male and female choirs. These groups provide a rich palette with different vowels to underscore potent moments. The choir’s performance style is inspire by traditional folk music, making it a unique alternative to conventional “epic” choirs.
Keyswitch
The keyswitch section condenses the instrument into a few patches, reducing the number of tracks and menu diving required. It includes the full choir, men’s and women’s choirs, and Merethe’s recordings of sustains, phrases, and Elvish words, offering a fast path to creating a fleshed-out score.
