Description

EastWest Sounds Hollywood Fantasy Winds is a collection of ethereal and majestic woodwind instruments designed for cinematic scores. It includes instruments with true legato and a variety of articulations, perfect for creating realistic fantasy settings such as enchanted forests or Celtic highlands. The collection is deeply rooted in Celtic musical traditions and features instruments not typically found in modern orchestras, like Uilleann pipes, ocarinas, and Irish whistles, giving it a unique, haunting quality.

Overview

The collection includes:

Irish Whistles (High). Known for their brilliant sound, these whistles are staples in Celtic folk music and are great for creating flexible topline melodies. They are similar to a piccolo but with more expressive pitch bending and dynamic range.

Irish Whistles (Low). This lower-pitched version offers a deeper, mellower sound that provides a richer, airier quality, suitable for orchestral settings. It can be used to extend the range of a standard whistle and sounds great when doubled with the high Irish whistle.

Renaissance Flutes. These flutes have a smooth, breathy tone similar to a concert flute but with a mellower, rounder sound from their wooden construction. They can be used as a gentle substitute for the flute and provide a full, mystical quality to scores of any scale.

Uilleann Pipes. A Celtic classic used in numerous film scores. Their sound is more lyrical than bagpipes, making them suitable for regal melodies that blend seamlessly with a full orchestra.

Ocarinas. Known from video games, this instrument has a haunting, hollow tone. It is soft and flexible, perfect for adding trills and ornaments to melodies or for soft, expressive passages where whistles or pipes might be too sharp.
