At GForce, we have painstakingly emulated every section of the Oberheim OB-X, Oberheim OB-E, and Oberheim SEM to ensure sonic authenticity, capturing the analog inaccuracies of the original hardware. Each functional addition was chosen to enhance the sonic and musical qualities of the originals.

The Oberheim OB-E v2 is the award-winning, Tom Oberheim-endorsed emulation of the unique Oberheim 8 Voice. It has eight independently programmable SEM voices, giving it a unique architecture and musicality. It includes a large Patch library for instant inspiration. The Oberheim SEM is a precise, authentic monophonic experience with a big, creamy sound and additional features for sonic flexibility. Both have Tom Oberheim’s seal of approval.

Octaphonic Sonic Adventure

The Oberheim OB-E is our take on the legendary Oberheim 8-Voice and the first software instrument to receive Tom Oberheim’s personal endorsement. More than an emulation, the OB-E takes the iconic Synthesizer Expander Module (SEM) based 8-Voice into new sonic territory with a raft of enhancements.

The Concept Of The 8-Voice

The concept of the 8-Voice is simple: it is based around a single SEM with two VCOs, two ADS Envelope Generators, one LFO, and a Multi-Mode Filter. Each SEM is monophonic, but because the 8-Voice has eight SEMs triggered by a polyphonic keyboard, it functions as a superb eight-note polyphonic synthesizer. This unique Octaphonic architecture offers fresh creative possibilities in the digital realm.

When Tom Oberheim created the SEM-1 in 1974, his goal was a great-sounding and simple-to-use synth. The SEM has been use by countless legendary musicians, making it one of the most revered synthesizers.
