Description

Halo Upmix is a tool for fine-tuning surround mixes, offering control from naturally extracted soundscapes to full cinematic enhancement. It includes unique center channel management and switchable dialogue extraction, making it suitable for various productions, from archive restoration to feature films. An optional 3D extension adds compatibility for Dolby Atmos bed track (7.1.2), Auro 3D (7.1.4), and Ambisonic outputs. The algorithms produce a natural, coherent spatial upmix without adding artificial effects, and the ‘Exact’ control ensures the original source integrity is preserved during downmix.

Natural Extension

The powerful real-time analysis of stereo material identifies and extracts locational cues to naturally extend the panorama, keeping the original source’s character intact.

Powerful Spatial Analysis

Halo includes a powerful spatial analysis view that intuitively shows the energy distribution of the upmixed panorama. Colors can indicate the speaker source for audio, clarifying phantom vs. hard center predominance.

Downmix Compatibility

Because Halo Upmix creates a coherent spatial sound, it ensures a high-quality downmix. The ‘exact’ mode provides ultimate downmix performance, which is crucial for maintaining the relationship between the original, upmixed, and downmixed versions, such as in TV repurposing.

3D Immersive Extension (Not Included)

The optional 3D Immersive Extension adds vertical controls and a real-time analysis view for the vertical dimension. It is suitable for applications like sound design, film scores, and VR, and allows simultaneous use of original features like dialog isolation.

Halo Upmix is indispensable for television with its sophisticated controls, including neural network-powered dialogue isolation, which streamlines time-intensive workflows and improves output quality.

For Film & Sound Design

With its powerful controls, Halo is essential for upmixing original and vintage scores, including to Dolby Atmos and Auro 3D with the 3D Immersive extension. Multiple instances can be used for sound design and score work on synths and effects, bringing life and energy to sound in a downmix-compatible way. It also supports Ambisonic format output for VR and game audio.

To Suit Almost Any Situation

Upmixing includes LCR, 3.1, 4.0, 4.1, 5.0, 5.1, 6.0, 6.1, 7.0 & 7.1. The Halo Upmix 3D Immersive Extension expands this to 7.1.2 and Ambisonic and is compatible with Avid Pro Tools and Steinberg Nuendo on Windows and OSX.
