Description

Fragments – Modern Percussion is a new percussion instrument that uses organic sounds to create refreshing, intricate, and low-key rhythms. It is well-suited for cinematic, ambient, and experimental music. The instrument offers deep randomization options, allowing for limitless variation and the creation of complex, chaotic rhythms. This can be done easily by turning a single knob.

Innovative Percussive Atmospheres

Fragments – Modern Percussion is built from non-traditional percussion sounds. Each sound was recorded with twelve round robins and up to five velocity layers. The FX and randomization engine gives the feeling of a human touch, as some sounds even come from parts of the human body.

Intricate Rhythms Made Easy

Each beat generator has a sequencer with two randomization features: one for the initial pattern and another for shaking it up with every turn. It also includes a Density feature that fills out the sound and adds hits of varying velocities to silent steps.

Layers Upon Layers

The engine’s five layers can be turn on and off. Users can also customize sounds by allowing the engine to randomly select sounds and panning positions.

Fragments – Modern Percussion’s controls make it simple to create a unique and intricate sound.

• The Main Page allows crafting Bass, Snare, and Fragments slots to create rhythms.
• The FX Page uses a master compressor and reverb while maintaining independent controls for each slot.
• The User Screen allows dragging and dropping your own sounds and defining Density and Tone MIDI controls.
• The Preset Browser offers over 100 presets for a quick start.

Craft Movement Through Rhythm

Each of the three layers has independent design options, allowing for quick and easy sound and rhythm creation.

A Material Advantage

The Bass and Snare slots feature 3 organic sounds each, recorded with 12 round robins. The Fragments slot contains 17 sounds. Sounds can be select by their source (Wood, Metal, Mechanical, Body, or User-dragged sounds), and panning and sound sourcing can be randomize.

A Dash Of The Secret Sauce

The sequencer’s secret is the Density option, which fills in gaps with random velocities. It can be tie to the modwheel for easy switching between minimal and complex rhythms.

Increase The Control

Tone and Density can be controll on a MIDI keyboard. The minimum and maximum for each can be set to tight the design function.

All sounds were record with 12 round robins for a human feel, and up to 5 velocity layers were capture with high-quality microphones in a meticulously design recording space.
