Description

ACE is a compact, easy-to-learn semi-modular synthesizer. While simple and clear, it is not limit or underpower. With 16 modules and the freedom to connect any output to any input, ACE offers a powerful tool for both beginners and experienced users to create custom instruments and explore new sound combinations.

Sounds

The two main sound generators are the VCOs, but the full-range LFOs can also generate audio frequencies. ACE’s oscillators are modeled on analog circuits, including their instabilities and non-linear characteristics, which can be further pushed with Circuit Bending options. You can also add a sub-oscillator for more bass, or use VCO2’s ring modulation, sync, and cross modulation for more complex sounds.

Mapping Generator

The Mapping Generator is a list of up to 128 values, unique to analog synthesizers. It can be use to create per-note offsets, transform modulation sources, be the LFO2 waveform, or provide patterns for each played note. The values can be edited using drawing tools or by choosing from pre-built shapes.

Filter

ACE’s two filters are modeled on analog hardware, providing satisfying analog results. They can be overdriven without harsh distortion, maintain resonance, and feature self-oscillation for experimental timbres. For an aggressive sound, you can route the signal through both filters. Both are cascade-type multimode circuits with two parallel outputs each.

Cables Anywhere And Everywhere

ACE is a semi-modular synth with a default fixed architecture, allowing you to create sounds immediately. This fixed routing can be overridden by patching cables, providing virtually limitless options. As ACE doesn’t differentiate between audio and control signals, any output can be plugged into any input, allowing for creative experimentation like using LFOs as audio oscillators or a VCO as an LFO.

Signal Sources

An array of output sockets provides signals from various sources like noise, MIDI controls (mod wheel, velocity), and the mapping generator. These can be use to add organic, life-like dynamics, modulation, and refinements to your sounds.

Effects

For final touches, ACE offers global effects. These include a classic stereo chorus with four modes, a stereo delay with seven selectable modes for adding movement, and controls to boost treble and bass.

Ramp Generator

Beyond the two ADSRs and two LFOs, the host-syncable Ramp Generator (a trapezoid that combines elements of both) can be use for more modulation possibilities.
