Description
Authorized by Solid State Logic, SSL EV2 is a brand-new recreation of the legendary SSL 4000E console channel strip. Using proprietary Precision Analog Component technology, SSL EV2 has been modeled component-by-component from a meticulously maintained reference console selected by SSL.
Now you can choose between the original, gritty SSL ‘O2’ Brown Knob EQ vs. the clean ‘242’ Black Knob EQ. SSL EV2 also adds the console’s richly saturated mic pre and line inputs. The result is a new level of analog depth and detail—an elevated take on the timeless SSL sound.
New Component-by-Component Modeling
Recreated from the ground up using Waves’ new Precision Analog Component technology, SSL EV2 has been modeled component-by-component from a meticulously maintained reference console selected by Solid State Logic. The result is incredible depth and detail—from the purity of Class A operation, to the option of switching in authentic analog character.
Choose Your EQ: Brown or Black
Finally, the question whether to use the original, more “forward” and gritty ‘O2’ Brown EQ knob, or the modern, clean and highly versatile ‘242’ Black EQ knob, has been answered: Use whichever one you want. SSL EV2 has both.
Saturate Your Tracks with Classic SSL Preamp Drive
SSL’s mic and line preamps are known for the gorgeous saturation they produce when overdriven. Now, SSL EV2 delivers everything from gentle saturation to aggressive drive. You can engage THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) with the Analog switch – a key element in recreating the saturated analog console sound—or you can turn Analog off for a clean input.
Tailor Your Attack with Detailed Dynamics
The Dynamics section includes a soft-knee compressor/limiter and a gate/expander. The program-dependent dynamics responds sensitively to attacks, or you can switch in a Fast Attack mode. Place dynamics before or after EQ and filters, or between them—tailor the sound going in, and/or tweak the tone coming out. As in the original console, makeup gain is applied automatically.
Control Your Sound with Versatile Sidechaining
Insert EQ or filters into the dynamics sidechain, to retain the full, round sound of bass, or to keep the kick from compressing everything, or for any pinpoint dynamics processing that affects only certain frequencies. You can also engage external sidechain for increased control over your dynamics.
