Description

Bazille is a large polyphonic modular synthesizer with digital oscillators based on phase distortion (PD) and frequency modulation (FM), multimode filters, and extensive modulation options. As the second creation from the Berlin Modular project, Bazille is a “geek machine” that offers a vast amount of connectivity and patching possibilities to explore.

Ultraflexible Modules

Bazille is an unusual modular synth with unashamedly digital oscillators that combine FM and PD technologies. Each oscillator has five sections: Pitch, Phase / FM, Phase Distortion, Fractal Resonance, and Outputs. The oscillators can also be use as LFOs or adopt custom shapes. A feature called Fractalize (fractal resonance) can be used to create bold sounds from tame waveforms.

Mapping Generators

The pair of Mapping Generators can be used to reshape modulation sources, define per-MIDI-note offsets, or step through values. They offer 4 modes and can have up to 128 steps, with drawing tools and presets for custom shapes.

Multiplex

The Multiplex modules are redesigned from simple modular “multiples” and can be used as signal mixers, crossfaders, ring modulators, and amplitude modulators.

Modulation Sequencer

The onboard modulation sequencer allows for more complex movements than a regular LFO. It can be divided into 2, 3, or 4 sections, and two can be used as per-voice note sequencers. A modulatable Rotate control allows morphing between up to 8 different sequences.

Alternative Skin

Bazille ships with a larger, more compact skin called GearPorn, which is ideal for both experts and ambitious novices. It can be enable with a simple right-click on the interface.
